Pleasanton Public Library
The library offers volunteering opportunities through their Friends of the Pleasanton Library program. Volunteers are needed to shelve and mend books, and serve as docents for their genealogy collection.

Open Heart Kitchen
Founded in 1995 by an inter-faith effort, Open Heart Kitchen’s mission is to provide nutritious meals free of charge or qualification to the needy people of the Tri-Valley area. Open Heart Kitchen offers the only free hot meal service of its kind in the area. Open Heart Kitchen is a 501(C) (3) non-profit agency. Tax ID 94-3396038

The Livermore Read Project
Provides instruction in both basic literacy and English as a Second Language. Since October, 1986 over 2200 adult learners have been helped by our tutors.Volunteers or Students Call : 373-5507

Homebound Service Volunteers
The Library provides homebound residents with access to Library materials through its Homebound Service Program. After a short orientation, adult volunteers use their new Outreach Services card to take books, videos and CD's to community residents. Volunteers may take materials to one or more individuals. Pleasanton Reads Project
Pleasanton Reads depends on volunteer tutors to provide one-on-one instruction in both basic literacy and English as a second language to residents over 18 who are struggling with reading and writing. Library staff train adult volunteers and then pair them with a student. Students and tutors usually meet once per week for 1-2 hours at a mutually convenient time and place. Tutoring and all necessary materials are free of charge.
